Department of Bengali is one of the oldest and most prestigious departments of Sudhiranjan Lahiri Mahavidyalaya, which began in 1966. The department has been an integral part of the college. Though this department had a humble beginning with only a few students pursuing&nbsp; Bengali literature. Honours course of the department started in 1970. The teachers initiated an all-round development of the students. Department has established its worth at every sphere of development starting from academic to cultural refinements of the institution. Creating of academic excellence sustainable development and effective resource management, we organized good number of seminars out of fund provided by the college. Many students have cleared National and State competative examination such as NET, SET, TET, Defence services etc.&nbsp;
The vission of the department : a) Equity b) Creativity c) Disciplene d) Knowledge&nbsp; and mission : a) Enviromemt of academic freedom which knowledge is free. b) Aim of creating Human beings. c) Skill enhancing education requirements of society.
We think and believe that our goal will be successful and our student will be benefited. A good number of books and journals relating to bengali are available for the students at our college library. Our faculty and students actively perticipate in different extension programms organized by different organs of the institution. We are committed to carry forward this tradition in future.&nbsp; &nbsp;
