<p style="text-align: justify;"> </p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "times new roman", times; font-size: large;"><strong>The Department of English at Sudhiranjan Lahiri Mahavidyalaya, affiliated to the University of Kalyani is one of its oldest and premier departments, offering Programme courses since 1966 and in 2003 the Honours course was introduced. The most singular feature of this department is its commitment towards the holistic growth of its students with its insistence on paying close attention to the students' mental, emotional and intellectual well-being. Fine-tuning its methods and thus constantly revisiting the pedagogic practices for the students to be at home in a discipline that is in a way nurtured by the very lack of disciplinary identity, the emphasis is on creating a space that befits the needs of the students to learn and grow. It consists of an outstanding faculty whose areas of expertise and research are wide and varied to include Post-Colonialism, Gender Studies, Partition literature, Dalit Writing, Literatures of the North-East, Folklore, Fourth World Literature, Culture Studies and Critical Theory, to name a few. Moreover, it has experts in English language teaching whose excellence lies in teaching the students to learn to articulate themselves better and thus enable them to hear their own voices and work their ways toward self-expression. It prides itself on having a pool of extremely talented and creative students who have brought accolades for the institution in both Academic and Co-Curricular activities. large;">Parent-Teacher meetings are held every semester to inform the guardians of the progress as well as to counsel the parents with age-old mind-set.</span></p> </td> <td width="248" valign="top"> left;"><span style="font-size: large;">Being geographically disadvantaged, not all stake- holders appreciate change thus they become change- resistant which limits the strieve towards style="font-size: large;">The age-old convention of not allowing girl-child to join the departmental educational tour due to out-dated beliefs of some guardians makes it difficult to motivate those department is endowed will all the facilities of updated technical as well as technological support as a result new avenues are introduced to our students.</span></p> <p class="TableParagraph"><span <p class="TableParagraph"><span style="font-size: large;">The students write their term- papers and present them in front of large audience consisting of faculty members and their peers who provide
