ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The department of Geography at sudhiranjan Lahiri Mahavidyalaya was established in the year 2006 as a self finance department under the University&nbsp; of Kalyani with the support of the then Principal of the college, Dr. Sarojendra Nath Kar . In the beginning, only Honours course was taught&nbsp; under this department and only 20 seats were available for the course, but then the following year Pass course also became a part and was made available for the students as a degree. At present there are five State Aided college Teacher and one laboratory assistant.
&nbsp;The department has well spacious and well equipped laboratories required for U.G level. Student feel comfortable while working in the laboratories as they get sufficient equipment, specimens, and instruments&nbsp; for their works. Field surveys are carried out on semester basis in different places having geographically importance .&nbsp;
&nbsp;The department&nbsp; has very high reputation in every sphere of the field of geography and other co- curricular activities . A good number&nbsp; of alumni of this department have become luminaries in their respective fields of teaching , researches , banking, and administration.
&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;The department always encourage student for creative activity. Most of the time the student -teacher relationship turns into friendly atmosphere. Complaints&nbsp; of students are heard all the time and efforts are made to resolve them.
